5th Annual Manta Fest Photo Festival

Come rub elbows with the top underwater shooters in the world, experience great diving and have lots of fun.

The intention is for Manta Fest to evolve into an island-wide celebration involving other hotels and dive shops but for now, The Manta Ray Bay Resort is taking the lead in trying to establish this fun educational program where everyone is a winner.

A professional digital still photographer and videographer, will be here to help our guests with any of their photographic and video needs. There will be nightly presentations on the big outdoor screen on Mnuw as well as individual classroom seminars in the afternoons. The pros will also compile a presentation from our guests efforts to show on the last day with awards given to those participating.

Official Fringe Event of the 2011 Underwater Festival™

Manta Ray Bay Resort is one of the major official Fringe Event locations of the upcoming 2011 Underwater Festival™, where thousands of photographers from around the world will participate in a 10 day underwater snapshot of the Australasia region. This event aims to highlight the 'underwater beauty and the issues' of our fantastic bioregion and show the world what we have to lose.

During the Underwater Festival™ period in early September 2011, Manta Ray Bay Resort itself will host a number of well know underwater photographers and naturalists such as Tim Rock and Marty Snyderman during the annual Manta Fest.

As part of the Underwater Festival, you can dive your local favourite spots, go out with your dive club or shore dive with your buddy - or travel and join in of of the many Underwater Festival Fringe Events that will be happening all over Australasia. Basically everyone will have 10 days to shoot - 2nd to 11th of September 2011.

The 2011 Festival with culminate at ODEX 2011 in Brisbane where the best 100 entries will be presented as a major feature of the show and there will be a mini Underwater Film Festival. Any operators that wish to become involved in the 2011 Underwater Festival and/or ODEX 2011, please email the organizers.

Lots of great prizes:

Grand prize in each category is going to be a 7 night/5 dive day trip back to Yap and the Manta Ray Bay Resort & Yap Divers.
2nd Place in each category will be a copy of Tim Rock’s great photo album about Yap (a $120 value).
3rd Place will be tee shirts, mask straps, ... etc.).
